New Role of Shotgun: 'Drone Killer' Drone Defense
The conflict between Russia-Ukraine conflict has made a large number of cheap mini UAVs come to the fore, and UAV defense has become a focus of attention. In order to combat this ubiquitous air threat, armies of all countries have come up with a "low technology" weapon - shotgun. Compared with electronic interference, microwave, and laser, shotguns have unique advantages in drone defense and close range air defense operations.
Faced with the new target of drones, shotguns will inevitably expose certain limitations, with the most obvious weakness being their range. Even with the best ammunition, the effective range of a shotgun is only a few dozen meters, which means it cannot strike drones flying high. One solution is to replace it with special ammunition, such as using a shotgun to fire an expandable "capture net".
The popularity of drones has changed the form of ground combat and provided new opportunities for the ancient weapon of shotguns. Over the centuries, the forms of war have constantly changed. Shotgun, with its strong adaptability to changes, has always remained in the soldiers' arsenal.
